Periodontal endoscopy is a new non-surgical, minimally invasive periodontal treatment technique performed with the help of a periodontal endoscope. Periodontal endoscopy combines state-of-the-art imaging, illumination and magnification technology.
Through less than 1mm miniature fibre-optic endoscope, it enters into the periodontal pockets and observes the narrow, confined space that cannot be seen by naked eyes and the following root surfaces, subgingival alveolar bone, the anatomical structure of soft tissues in the periodontal pockets, plaque, calculus, depth of periodontal pockets, etc., and at the same time, conducts the treatment of periodontal disease and teaching demonstration in a minimally invasive and visual way.
Reasonable judgement of bone thickness at the sinus floor is made, greatly reducing the risk of perforation.
